Hundreds of new single-family houses have gone up in recent years in the Tīraine, Jaunmārupe, and Skulte road areas - Mārupe is one of the fastest-growing municipalities by population in all of Latvia, and much of that growth is families building or having just finished their first house. This growth isn't accidental - people choose Mārupe specifically for its proximity to the airport, good transport infrastructure, and a well-thought-out municipal layout that in most newer areas provides wide streets, cycle paths, and nearby schools and kindergartens, which makes the municipality especially appealing to young families with children.
