Attic insulation is for buildings where the attic space is, and will remain, cold and unoccupied - nobody lives there, it isn't heated, and there's no plan to convert it into living space. In this case, the most effective solution is to fit insulation not across the whole roof slope, but on the ceiling or floor - directly above the ceiling of the heated space below.

The main difference from roof insulation: here the insulation isn't on the roof slope, and the attic air space above the insulation stays cold and ventilated even after the work is finished. That's deliberate - the roof structure needs to keep "breathing" to prevent condensation under the covering itself.

Two points determine how well attic insulation lasts: sealing vapor control beneath the insulation, and a correctly built access route that won't compress the insulation over time. We also pay close attention to chimney and ventilation-pipe connections - insulation needs a safe clearance from hot surfaces there.

Blowing in cellulose usually needs less manual labor than fitting boards, but material and equipment rental can affect the total price differently than with wool boards.
