About The Initial Process

It helps to know the building type, the roof's approximate area and pitch, the existing covering (if any), and the solution you're after. We provide an accurate assessment only after visiting the site.
From photos we can give a rough estimate, but we only prepare an accurate, binding quote after a site visit, since the structure's condition and detail solutions need to be assessed in person.
A quote is usually valid for 30 days. Material prices can change, so if there's a longer gap before work starts, we recommend reviewing the quote first.
Yes - larger projects, such as a full roof replacement or insulation, can be split into stages to match your budget and timeline. We discuss this already while preparing the quote.
About Roof Installation and Replacement
If the structure, rafters, and battens are in good condition, a covering replacement is often enough. If we find structural damage, missing insulation, or a ventilation system that needs rebuilding, a full roof replacement is recommended.
Yes - removal and debris disposal are part of both covering replacement and full replacement work, and appear in the quote as a separate line item.
Yes, we always inspect the rafters, battens, and the timber structure as a whole before laying the new covering. If we find damage, we agree it with you before continuing.
If the battens are in good technical condition and meet the requirements of the new covering, they can be kept. We recommend replacing damaged or unsuitable battens to ensure the roof lasts.
Replacing the roof on an average-sized house usually takes 5-10 working days, depending on the roof's area, complexity, and the chosen covering material. We give an exact timeframe in the quote.
We protect the structure and the inside of the building with a temporary waterproof cover, and resume work as soon as weather allows. We plan the work schedule with the weather forecast in mind.
About Insulation
For Latvia's climate, living spaces usually call for a 200-300 mm insulation layer, but we determine the exact thickness based on rafter height, how the space is used, and the building's energy-efficiency targets.
Mineral wool is the more common choice, with good fire resistance and a stable shape between rafters. Cellulose insulation adapts well to complex structures and fills gaps, but requires specific installation technology. We recommend the best option after inspecting the structure.
A vapor barrier is needed in practically every case of insulating a roof over living space - it stops moisture from the room side reaching the insulation and protects the timber structure from rot.
The ventilation gap between the insulation and the roof covering allows air circulation, carries moisture away, and prevents condensation build-up, which without ventilation can damage the timber structure and cause mold.
Roof insulation is installed between the rafters and is needed when the attic space is used as living area. Attic insulation covers the floor above living spaces when the attic stays cold and unused - this is often the more economical option.
Condensation is prevented by a properly installed vapor barrier on the inside, quality insulation installed without gaps, and a working ventilation gap between the insulation and the outer covering.
About Price and Warranty
Price is affected by the roof's area and pitch, the chosen covering material, the structure's condition, how much insulation is needed, the number of detail points (chimneys, windows, ventilation outlets), and site access.
Most work is priced per square meter, but certain items - detail points, gutters, roof windows - are listed separately in the quote, so the quote stays accurate and transparent.
Yes, we clearly separate material and labor costs in the quote so you can see exactly what you're paying for. We agree on material choices with you before work begins.
Yes, removing the old covering and hauling away debris is listed in the quote as a separate line item, so there are no hidden extra costs in the final price.
We provide a written warranty for the work performed. The warranty period depends on the type of work and is stated in the quote and the handover documents.
Yes, manufacturers of roof coverings and other materials usually provide their own warranty, separate from our warranty on the work. We hand over these documents together with the project handover materials.
