Gutter Installation in Riga

A complete rainwater drainage system - gutters, downpipes, outlets, and brackets, calculated and installed to match the roof's area and pitch. Included as part of a new roof installation or covering replacement project.

Who it's for

Any building without a functioning rainwater system

We offer gutter installation to owners of single-family homes, new builds, and extensions - both as part of a new roof installation project and as an add-on solution for an existing roof that either has no system yet or needs adapting after a covering change. We design the system individually for each roof, taking into account its shape, area, and number of downpipe outlets.

What problem it solves

Controlled water drainage away from the building's foundations

Without a correctly designed gutter system, rainwater flows freely off the roof edge straight down the facade and foundations - over the long term this threatens the facade finish, basement waterproofing, and the surrounding grounds. A correctly chosen diameter, fall, and outlet placement ensures all rainfall is collected and drained away from the building in a controlled manner.

What's included

A Complete Gutter System Installation

System calculation

Calculating gutter and downpipe diameter, length, and outlet count based on roof area and local rainfall levels.

Gutter bracket and gutter installation

Gutter bracket placement with a calculated spacing and correct fall toward the outlets.

Outlets and downpipes

Installing water-collection outlets and vertical downpipes down to ground level or the drainage system.

Joints and end caps

Corner elements, gutter end caps, and connector sleeves that keep the system watertight along its full length.

Construction

How the Gutter System Is Built

The system's performance comes down to three factors - correct diameter, correct fall, and correct bracket spacing.

1. Gutter bracket placement. Brackets are fixed to the roof structure (rafters or the fascia board) at a set spacing that ensures the gutters can carry the load even under a full water and snow load.

2. Gutter fall. We build a small but precise fall into each gutter section toward the outlet - without it, water sits in the system and adds extra load in winter.

3. Outlet placement. We calculate outlet count and position based on roof area, so no gutter section is overloaded during heavy rainfall.

4. Downpipe run. Vertical pipes are fixed to the facade with pipe clips, keeping a clearance that allows maintenance without damaging the facade finish.

Critical detail

Diameter, Fall, and Outlet Count

The most common mistake in gutter systems isn't the choice of material, but an incorrect diameter and outlet-count calculation. A system that's too small, or outlets spaced too far apart, causes gutters to overflow during heavy downpours - exactly when the system needs to perform at its best.

Equally important is the gutter's fall - too little fall lets water sit and adds extra weight in winter, while too steep a fall can look visually uneven on longer roof sections.

Process

How Gutter Installation Happens

1

Measurements

Measuring the roof perimeter, area, and number of downpipe outlets.

2

System Calculation

Determining diameter, outlet count, and bracket spacing.

3

Bracket Installation

Fixing gutter brackets with the correct fall toward the outlets.

4

Gutter Fitting

Laying gutter sections and joints.

5

Downpipe Installation

Installing vertical pipes and clips against the facade.

6

Water Test

Checking flow rate and joint water-tightness.

Quality control

What We Check Before Handover

After installation we check every gutter section's fall, fastening density, and outlet flow rate by running water through the entire system. We pay attention to corner joints and downpipe clip fixings on the facade - these spots most often require additional adjustment.

We photograph the work as it progresses, capturing both the bracket placement under the gutter and the finished system from outside.

Price, duration & warranty

What Affects Cost and Timeline

The price of gutter installation is affected by the system's total length, chosen material (PVC, galvanized steel, painted steel, aluminium, or copper), number of outlets and corner elements, and facade height. We prepare an exact quote after measuring the site - read more about pricing principles on our pricing page.

Installing a standard single-family home's gutter system usually takes 1-2 working days, depending on the roof perimeter's length. Completed work and materials carry a written warranty - see terms on our warranty page.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Diameter is chosen based on roof area and pitch - standard single-family homes typically use 125 mm gutters and 87-100 mm downpipes, while larger roofs or high-rainfall-intensity areas benefit from a wider system size.

Metal gutters (painted steel or copper) are more resistant to UV exposure and temperature swings, while PVC gutters are a more economical option with simpler installation. The choice depends on budget, roof covering, and the desired long-term appearance.

No - we specialize in installing new gutter systems as part of new roof construction, covering replacement, or full replacement projects. Cleaning, repairs, and emergency situations for existing systems are handled by our partner, jumtaremontsriga.lv.
